Caledonia Fly Company was formed in 2003 and operates from Crieff in Perthshire. The company was formed with the sole intention of providing the highest quality fishing flies to the retail market.    

The business is operated by Malcolm and Karen Anderson.

Malcolm took over the business from Alec Law who had successfully introduced the “Highland Flies” brand into the UK. Identifying that there was tremendous growth potential in the quality end of the Fly market, we have continued to increase the number of available patterns, and have seen a considerable increase in demand since then. The company reputation for quality and service has helped our business grow considerably in the retail fly- fishing sector.

There is high demand in the Fly market for contemporary patterns and an explosion in available materials. Malcolm is a former Scottish International Fly-fisher, an excellent designer and Fly-tier, and an inveterate experimenter of new methods and patterns. Malcolm’s aim is to offer innovative and contemporary patterns as fast as the market demands. Using modern materials and well-tested patterns, our aim is to become one of the UK’s biggest suppliers of quality fly patterns.

 Our Supplier
Highland Flies was established in Singapore in 1973 by Scotsman Eric Stevenson. The business continued to expand, catering for the quality end of the world-wide custom-tied fly market, so that in 1993 Eric and Thomas Leow, who had joined the business in the late 1970s, opened a brand new custom built facility in Sri Lanka and have recently opened a further new factory to keep up with demand.

Highland Flies custom-tie for many of the world’s leading retail and wholesale brands. They have the largest store of materials in the world and can produce and dye a vast range of materials in-house. They use only the finest materials, such as Hoffman hackles, and all flies are tied on quality hooks from suppliers such as Daiichi (Kamasan), Partridge, Hayabusa and V.M.C.
